December 17, 2013 marks our one year anniversary as husband and wife. Its been an awesome year for both of us that brought many wonderful changes in our lives. Michelle moved-in to my incredible apartment, and we rented a storage space to put some of my "crap" to make room for her mountain of clothes and a library of shoes (Im exagerrating of course).
After my Grandfather's passing, it propelled us to look at our marriage introspectively. We find ourselves talking a lot about my grandparent's marriage and how little time they had together. I always talk about how my grandparents raised my older brother and I in the Philippines. In my earliest memory, I can remember them being about 50 something years old, and my parents, doing the math, being around our age (about late 20's, early 30's).
Putting this time line together, really puts things in perspective on how much time Michelle and I really have. As Michelle and I are about the same age as my parents and my parents now, are about the same age as my grandparents were (see the picture above). Where did that time go??? It seemed like we just got married yesterday, and honestly, I still feel like we just started dating! Then we start thinking about how much time are spent on things like working (99,000 hours), sleep (220,000 hours), etc. And in the end, the only things that really matter are the cultivated relationships with friends and family.
So Michelle and I decided to pull the trigger...
“It is not that we have so little time but that we lose so much. ... The life we receive is not short but we make it so; we are not ill provided but use what we have wastefully.” - Seneca the Younger
Our first trip on January 2014- is Japan for 4days and one week in Oahu Hawaii!
